New DVD Released: Musical Chairs
Short Film, “Musical Chairs” Challenges the Dominant Paradigm of Life in the Second Half
Angst and uncertainty often accompany the feelings of relief and excitement when one is facing retirement. While for many, time for leisure is a fulfillment of dreams and planning, others embark on a quest for renewed meaning and significance.
In order to evoke lively discussion on the topic of purpose in the second half of life, Richard and Leona Bergstrom of ChurchHealth and Lifetime ministries have produced a short film entitled, Musical Chairs. This 10 minute DVD, directed and produced by Smallfire Films, (www.smallfirefilms.com) challenges the dominant paradigm in an entertaining yet provocative manner. The story of the main character, Bill Parker, on his first day of retirement will make you laugh, cry, and ask some hard questions about purpose and meaning in the second half of life.
The film is being used as a discussion starter in venues such as churches, small groups, university classrooms and senior living communities. A discussion guide, written by Dr. Bergstrom, is included in interactive format on the DVD and also in hard copy as a DVD insert.
